Future Initiatives

The State cabinet has already given approval for allotment of 98 B – 1 K – 13 L land for the construction of proposed “Swahid Smarak Khetra”, a memorial park at Pachim Boragaon, under Kamrup (Metro) District in memory of the  martyrs of Assam Movement.  An  amount of Rs. 10.00 (ten) crore has been earmarked in this year budget 2017-18. Preliminary works for execution of the said project has already been initiated by this department. Recently a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Assam with the officials of AASU, one of the stake holders of the Assam Agitation and a decision was taken that Government shall make fresh effort to set-up a paper mill at the existing site of Ashok Paper Mill in the 53 acres of land presently covering the factory area of the mill and in the remaining land barring 53 acres there shall not be any bar to set up Logistic Hub, IT Hub or Industrial Hub by Industries and Commerce Department. The Industries and Commerce Department shall take steps accordingly.

An exclusive office for the Department of Implementation of Assam Accord is being established near Dispur, replete with an Information Centre, an Archive cum Photo Gallery of martyrs’, and a Conference Centre, to facilitate families of the martyrs, organizations associated with Assam movement, Students, researchers and other interested persons.
